Meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Niki Kerameos and the deputy minister, Theodori Livanio for the bill for the vote of the emigrants, the president of the KO of SYRIZA, Sokratis Famellos.
According to sources from Koumoundourou, the submitted proposal “is exactly the same as the original Voridis bill that was submitted in April 2021 and was not adopted.”
The same sources emphasized that the issue of the vote of emigrants is important and “we want to give the right to as many as possible to vote, because as a result the proposal that was finally qualified by law 4648/2019 did not have the expected results.
On the contrary, the original SYRIZA proposal that we submitted to the Parliament in 2018 ensured that it was both elected and elected and was in line with good practices applied in other countries.
Moreover, this proposal was also submitted by Mr. Gerapetritis in 2017 in the report of the committee on human rights.
We also emphasized that such a serious issue requires time and space for dialogue to be done in an effective manner and must be discussed substantively and thoroughly if we are really looking for compositions that are necessary on such an issue.
Finally, since this dialogue is opening, SYRIZA, for its part, argued that care should also be taken for internal voters who were unable to exercise their right due to their work in a different place from their place of residence, which contributed to the large percentage abstention in the recent elections, a matter for which SYRIZA-PS will undertake a legislative initiative”.
