Zefi Dimadama was announced by the ND government as the new head of the General Secretariat for Equality and Human Rights. A short time later, PASOK announced her removal from the party and from the Central Political Committee.
In particular, she states in her post:
“The General Secretariat for Equality and Human Rights refers to the core of the European value system.
I accepted the offer to head this Secretariat with a sense of responsibility and debt to testify the experience and knowledge I have acquired, having dedicated, to these crucial issues for democracy, all my energies over time and always seeking the widest possible consents.
I consider it self-evident to submit my resignation from any capacity with a party symbol for reasons of ethics and with the conviction that I am undertaking a mission of national interest, the success of which requires the agreement of all democratic political forces.”
