Wide interministerial meeting was held this morning at the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection under the responsible minister Vassilis Kikilia in order to coordinate and make decisions regarding the extreme weather conditions prevailing and expected to peak in the coming days in the country.
“We all know now that we’re going to have extreme weather conditions over the next few days. The entire state machine, the entire state apparatus will be outside: in the forests, in the groves, in the cities, so that the Fire Brigade, the Civil Protection, the Greek Police, the Armed Forces, our volunteers, the Ministry of Health – the EKAV is coordinated -, the foresters and the Ministry of Energy and Environment can help,” Vassilis Kikilias said in his statement and added:
“We ask the citizens to help in this effort and together we can overcome the difficult days that follow. We have been informed by the National Weather Service and our meteorologists that it looks like a very difficult three days (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) will come with extreme weather conditions and very high temperatures followed by meltemia and Beaufort and a new heatwave in the middle of next week. So we all need to pay attention and help in this effort.”

The Ministers of State Akis Skertsos, Labor & Social Security Adonis Georgiadis, Interior Niki Kerameos, Culture Lina Mendoni, Social Cohesion & Family Sofia Zaharakis, the Deputy Minister of the Interior Theodoros Livanios, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Thanasis Kontogeorgis, the Deputy Minister of the Interior Vivi Charalamp participated Ogiannis, the Deputy Ministers of Environment & Energy Nikolaos Tagaras and Alexandra Sdoukou, of Labor & Social Security Petros Spanakis, of Health Marios Themistokleous, of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection Evangelos Tournas and Christos Triantopoulos, of Labor Relations Anna Stratinaki, of Health Services Lilian Vildiridis, of Civil Protection Vassilis Papagadis Eorgiou, the general director of Forests Vangelis Goudoufa and the general director of Social Cohesion and Family Athina Diakoumakou.
Also participating were the head of GEETHA, General Konstantinos Floros, the head of ELAS Lt. Gen. Lazaros Mavropoulos, the head of the Fire Brigade Lt. Gen. Georgios Pournaras and the chief of staff of the Fire Brigade Christos Lambris.
