He noted that controls are already being carried out in Greek flour factories and stressed that controls will be carried out at all stages of the supply chain after the farmer
We will be merciless and very strict to all those who try to profit by taking advantage of the situation of international inflationary trends, the Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, emphasized to SKAI.
He noted that controls are already being carried out in the Greek flour industries and stressed that controls will be carried out at all stages of the supply chain after the farmer. Mr. Skrekas emphasized that violations have been identified and fines have been imposed.
According to the minister, in 2021 and 2022 there were increases in products for objective reasons such as production costs. However, he added, we are now seeing energy costs, transportation costs, raw material costs decrease and here, he stressed, comes government intervention to control gross margins.
We will impose fines no matter how high they are and we will not allow anyone to profit at the expense of the Greek family, the minister underlined.
In fact, he mentioned that fines amounting to 1.4 million euros have been imposed on large supermarket chains. Our purpose is to control those who are illegal, we want a free market not a corrupt market, emphasized the minister.
Referring to the household basket, he said that we obliged the supermarkets to have at least one branded product, which will apply from the next basket, while there will also be a second point of display of the products where all the household basket products will be collected, (that is, as many as they can, are out of the fridge and freezer).
Mr. Skrekas reminded that the market pass is valid until October, noting that everything depends on the margins given by the budget. He emphasized that it does not solve the problem of inflation, however it absorbs a significant part of it.
As the minister said, we are moving on two axes. One is to limit increases and reduce prices and the other is to increase the income of the Greek family.
He also announced that the news is positive in the field of economy and development. As he said, we are doing better, jobs are being created, salaries and pensions are increasing.
