Its plenary session will decide tomorrow Parliament on the proposal of the President of the Parliament to amend provisions of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, including article 80 entitled “Reprimand for anti-parliamentary behavior”.

According to a parliamentary source, the majority of the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure committee, which met today, agreed to allow the president of the body to censure a member of parliament for anti-parliamentary behavior, and to cut half, instead of a quarter ( in force today) of the MP’s compensation.

Article 80 currently reads as follows:

1. In particularly serious cases the President of the Parliament may, at his discretion, instead of the disciplinary measures of the previous articles, formulate a motion of censure to the Parliament for anti-parliamentary behavior against a Member of Parliament who committed or persists in the impermissible referred to in article 77 paragraph 3 or inappropriate behavior.

2. After the President’s motion of censure, the person concerned is invited to give explanations for a maximum of five (5) minutes of the hour, after which, if the President maintains his motion, the Parliament decides by raising and without discussion.

3. The Parliament’s decision to issue a censure for anti-parliamentary behavior against a Member automatically entails the reduction of one quarter (1/4) of his monthly compensation.
