The “mandate to move forward together in this new period that is opening for our party and for the Left in our country”, the candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA-PS Euklidis Tsakalotos, with a statement in view of tomorrow’s elections, where “we will highlight the new leadership of SYRIZA-PS, the leadership of the official opposition, tomorrow’s government, tomorrow’s prime minister”. “After September 17 we will be everywhere. We can win and we will win,” he says.
In his extensive statement, Mr. Tsakalotos notes that “the Left, both in Europe and in Greece, changed the face of societies” and that a series of conquests and reforms for democracy, society, the economy, work, culture, bear the stamp of the Left. “With these values ​​and ideas we are going to the polls tomorrow. And we will vote with confidence to open a new political cycle for our party. To give new momentum and energy to our organizations and members, new life to our ideas, to elect a new collective, unifying but also bold leadership”, he emphasizes.
The candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA-PS adds that “but we will vote – and above all – to give dignity to the citizens of this country”, pointing out, among other things, that “ND and PASOK, the two parties of the old system, they led us to bankruptcy…’. “The country needs a big institutional, economic and cultural leap”, which “cannot be done without us, without the return of a renewed SYRIZA to power, without the collective guide of our decisions”, he underlines.
“Despite our mistakes, we are the new”, asserts Mr. Tsakalotos, adding: “We defend our leftist identity and seek to formulate a radical change plan with majority dynamics”. He states that “tomorrow, we will vote for a leadership that will once again give pride to the Left and to society”, noting that his vision is not “normality” and that “the parties and countries that make historical intersections are the ones that make the transcendence’, referring for example to Sweden of the welfare state and France of democracy and social movements and rights. “I have a vision for a society that will move forward and that will become a model for its development dynamics, its institutions, labor relations, social justice,” he declares.
As he emphasizes, his vision is “a SYRIZA of reliability, self-confidence, collectiveness”. “And a society with citizens who will live in a country worth living in. This is my vision. This is the Greece of the future that is worth working for,” he points out.
He makes special reference to culture, which “constitutes at the same time a powerful force for the promotion of a just society, strengthens the collective spirit and social empathy”.
Mr. Tsakalotos expresses the commitment to the fire and flood victims that “SYRIZA-PS will be in front the next day to rebuild the affected areas, with a plan and a vision”. “To create in the ruins of the “staff state” a developmental state that will be at the center of the human being and his needs”, he adds.
“The wealth of this country is its people, the wealth of our party is its members and friends”, he underlines and concludes: “We are here, with strength, pride and confidence in our ideas, in what we have done until now but also for all that is to come.”
