The minister underlined the urgent need for speed and flexibility in order to support the primary production sector Of agricultural development, Lefteris Avgenakis during his intervention at the Council of competent ministers in Brussels. In particular, Mr. Avgenakis pointed out that “it is urgent and necessary to respond effectively, with speed and flexibility, offering support to the vital sector of primary production”.

“I rely on your support, which is vital in order for Greece to face the short- and medium-term needs that have arisen,” the minister stressed.

In addition, referring to the note he sent to the European ministers with a series of initiatives, he focused on the need to increase the agricultural reserve for 2024 and its flexible release, on the derogations of the RDP investment programs and the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy, the activation of measures for natural disasters from the Rural Development Program as well as the Adhoc state aid to strengthen the ELGA fund.

“We can emerge stronger from crises. It is enough to turn challenges into opportunities. With vision, with plan, with will, with brave decisions. The European route has proven this”, noted Lefteris Avgenakis.

Finally, the Minister of Rural Development invited the European ministers to visit Greece. “I officially invite you to visit my country in the near future and see for yourself what has happened” he underlined.
