Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out the prospects for a better future in Zagori and Epirus in a post on social media, on the sidelines of the inclusion of Zagorochoria in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.

As he pointed out, a joint effort by the Ministry of Culture and the Region of Epirus, as well as a personal commitment from 2019 regarding this incomparably beautiful Greek landscape to be the first to be registered in the organization’s registers, is justified.

“This is a development that recognizes the unique architecture of 46 settlements of Pindos, highlighting them as a destination for visitors from all over the world, in all four seasons of the year.

At the same time, however, it protects them from reckless construction and over-tourism. In other words, it paves the way for a better future in Zagori and Epirus”, he pointed out.

The post in detail:

“Since yesterday, Zagorochoria has its own place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. A joint effort by the Ministry of Culture and the Region of Epirus is thus justified. But also a personal commitment of mine from 2019, for this Greek landscape of incomparable beauty to be the first to be registered in the organization’s registers.

This is a development that recognizes the unique architecture of 46 settlements of Pindos, highlighting them as a destination for visitors from all over the world, in all four seasons of the year. At the same time, however, it protects them from reckless construction and over-tourism. In other words, it paves the way for a better future in Zagori and Epirus”
