“Your organic and functional independence is a precondition for the deepening of the rule of law in our time, but also a component of democratic life in our country. “Especially when, unfortunately, in the recent past, there have been crude interventions of the political power in your work and attitudes that have damaged the prestige of Justice”, pointed out Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the swearing-in ceremony of its graduates National School of Judicial Officers.

“Armed with this experience, I would call on you today to close your ears to any threat that may be thrown at you by some. “And with your decisions to certify your independence every day”, he added, addressing the new judges

During his speech, Mr. Mitsotakis stood on substantial interventions that have been made in the last two years to improve and accelerate the delivery of justice, for the benefit of citizens and the economy.

Among other things, it focused on the new framework for mediation in civil and commercial cases, the establishment of pilot trials and civil justice, the arrangements for faster litigation of over-indebted households, the establishment of special sections for investment cases in the major Courts of First Instance, but and in the planning for the utilization of 250 million euros from the resources of the Recovery Fund for the needs of Justice, which includes the construction and upgrading of courthouses.
