The Prime Minister pointed out that a balance needs to be found ahead of the review of the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework
The need to secure additional resources from the European Union to deal with it Immigrant and for them Natural Disasterthe prime minister pointed out Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in Berlin.
During the meeting, the entire range of bilateral relations was discussed, as well as issues of European interest.
The Prime Minister emphasized the positive performance of the Greek economy and referred to the reforms that offer incentives to attract investments.
As far as energy cooperation is concerned, Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined the role that Greece can play as a hub for the transfer of “green” energy to southern Germanyas well as an energy bridge between the Middle East and Egypt and Europe.
With reference to Immigration, a European issue that requires a European response, the issue of secondary flows to Germany was discussed, among other things. Ideas were exchanged on integration policies that could be mutually beneficial for Greece and Germany. The two sides agreed to stay in touch on the issue.
During the meeting, issues of the European agenda were also discussed, such as the discussion on its revision Multiannual Financial Framework of the EU. The Prime Minister reiterated Greece’s position that the right balance must be found and additional resources must be secured for Migration and the response to natural disasters.
With regard to the enlargement of the EU, and in particular the accession perspective of Western Balkansthe Prime Minister reiterated that Greece supports their European perspective, however he emphasized that it depends on the performance of the candidate countries themselves and this also concerns respect for the Rule of Law.
The two leaders also exchanged views on international and regional issues, with a focus on the situation in the Middle East, the latest developments in Ukraine and the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as for the Cyprus issue. The Prime Minister also informed about the latest contacts between the Greek side and the Turkish side.
