“Today we say goodbye to the great Macedonian writer who honored throughout his journey the land that raised him. It’s our turn to write him “The Last Goodbye”. There are others much more qualified than me to talk about the intellectual size and rich work of Vassilis Vassilikos. I limit myself to recalling that he passed into immortality, in the company of the great figures of the 20th century such as Grigoris Lambrakis, the judge Christos Sargetakis, the ” tiger” Manoli Hatziaapostolou and thousands of other fellow travelers of his tortured generation. They resurrected Greece and restored democracy. He was always present at the critical moments.
