On the occasion of today’s National and World Day of Disability as well as an event of similar content at the Lighthouse of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, the Minister of State, with responsibility for the Coordinating Mechanism for Persons with Disabilities, Stavros Papastavrou said from the event: “Today is a a day of awareness and great responsibility at the same time. A day of inclusion and visibility for “Persons with Disabilities, but also of unity for the entire Greek society”.

While, after congratulating the civil society organizations and experts participating in the events of the Niarchos Foundation, he further pointed out: “We have taken many steps since 2019 to defend the rights of people with disabilities. But I know that there is still a lot to be done so that no one is left behind. I know that we all together – and I personally – have a lot of work to do to eliminate exclusions, exclusions and prejudices.”

And the Minister of State concluded with the assurance, “the new National Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities that will soon be announced, will bring us closer to the society we envision. A civilized society that will respect and guarantee equal access to all its members without exception”.

The 1st Open Agora is a meeting of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center with non-profit, independent, voluntary and activist organizations. It is dedicated to the theme “Health, Mental Health and Disability”.
