Erdogan: with the meeting of the 5th Supreme Cooperation Council of Greece – Turkey, a new era begins, let’s talk by seeing the glass half full.
The Turkish president landed shortly before 10:30 at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport.
The group of ministers accompanying him also arrived with him.
The Turkish president was welcomed at the airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis who had a few minutes’ conversation with Mr. Erdogan.
Mr. Erdogan, after talking with Mr. Gerapetritis for a while in the vip area of the airport, boarded the armored limousine and left for the Presidential Palace where he has a meeting with the President of the Republic.
At 12:15 p.m., he will go to the Maximos Palace, where he will have a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as part of the meeting of the 5th Supreme Council of Greece-Turkey Cooperation.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister and Mr. Erdogan will make statements to the press.
It will be followed by a working lunch of the plenary session of the Supreme Cooperation Council. Earlier, at 11.30 the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias will have a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Yasar Guler, at the Armed Forces Officers Club. Also, at 12 noon, the Minister of National Economy and Finance K. Hatzidakis will meet with his Turkish counterpart Mehmet Simsek, the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs K. Fragogiannis and A. Papadopoulos will meet with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Burak Aktsapar, the Minister of Immigration and Asylum D Kairidis, Citizen Protection G. Economos and Maritime and Island Policy Chr. Stylianidis with the Minister of the Interior of Turkey Ali Gerlikaya, the Minister of Tourism O. Kefalogianni and Culture L. Mendonis with the Minister of Culture of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoi and the Minister of Education K. Pierrakakis with the Minister of National Education of Turkey Yusuf Tekin.
During the official visit of Mr. Erdoğan, extraordinary traffic arrangements are being made (gradual and temporary stoppage of traffic, as well as prohibition of stopping and parking), in various parts of the road network of the wider area of the Center of Athens, while EL.AS. announced a ban on gatherings during the visit.
Closed roads
Until the afternoon, Katehaki – Mesogion – Vasil streets. Sofias – Kifissias – Vas. Konstantinou – Vas. Amalia – Alexandra – Michalakopoulou – Stadium – Panepistium and Academy will be a prohibited zone for the residents of the capital.
High-rise buildings throughout Athens during the visit will be armed with snipers who will cover all the neurological points.
At the same time and during the 6 hours that Erdogan will be here, there will be aerial surveillance, on many levels, both by drones and by Greek police helicopters, which will give a live image of the GADA operations center.
Specially trained dogs will sweep downtown Athens, even checking garbage cans for any explosive devices or suspicious objects. At the same time, ELAS will even check the rainwater network galleries.
