The Prime Minister is visiting the Region of Thessaly today. In the morning, Kyriakos Mitsotakis presided over a meeting with Mayors and Community Leaders of areas affected by the “Daniel” bad weather, while he will attend and speak at the opening of the water supply project on the eastern side of P.E. Karditsa from Smokovo Lake and will visit Metamorfosi Karditsa.
During the discussion, the main issues for the rehabilitation of the affected areas were examined. Particular emphasis was placed on the removal of water and transportable materials, but also on planning for effective water management in Thessaly, based on technical and scientific recommendations. Those who took the floor emphasized the very good cooperation that exists between the government and the Local Government and the importance of consents for the benefit of the local community.
The Prime Minister underlined that the restoration of Thessaly and the support of the inhabitants, of agriculture and animal husbandry in the plains remain an inescapable priority for the government. “The government will be here as long as needed,” noted Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Minister of Rural Development and Food Lefteris Avgenakis, the current Regional Governor of Thessaly Konstantinos Agorastos and the newly elected Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas also took part in the meeting.
Mr. Avgenakis presented the actions taken by the government, in collaboration with ELGA, to support growers and breeders, with the advances that have been credited so far for animal and plant production amounting to 124 million euros.
