Against the Parliament for the donation of Niarchos for the pediatric hospital of Thessaloniki – The “agyrtes” and the “Escobar”

The tone was raised in Parliament on the occasion of the debate in Parliament on the ratification of the donation contract of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for a pediatric hospital in Thessaloniki, for which SYRIZA voted “present”.

SYRIZA MP Theodora Avgeri used χαρακτηρισ cafe designations for government ministers, such as “small-minded and greedy”, “labeled liars” and “political swindlers”, noting that the government’s epic is coming to an end, as SYRIZA will stop the diversion “which you attempt by privatizing a donation”.

Referring to the tragic dialogue of Petros Doukas with the outgoing Minister of Rural Development, Spilio Libanos, she pointed out that “once again the open microphones betray the Lebanese and the incense burners and these bags as it seems will not be in the file”. Addressing Thanos Plevris, she pointed out that “you can be sure, Mr. Plevris, that neither the truths nor the bags or the suitcases of Frouzi, who have been coming and going to the ministry since 2015, will be included in the file”.

Launching a personal attack on the Minister of Health, he pointed out that “you are a minister of special mission and dismantling of the health system. You were placed to complete what you started in 2013 and left it in the middle: closing and downsizing the public hospital, but in order for the interests you serve to drink to your health “, adding that” you will have to be accountable for implementing this plan. You have to be accountable to the people of Thessaloniki if all the children have access “.

His criticism was also harsh ΚΙΝΑΛ with MP Andreas Poulas stating that the purpose of this contract is flexible working relationships, contractors, and opacity in the management of hospital budgets.

Responding to criticism from the opposition, Deputy Health Minister Mina Gaga said the University Pediatric Hospital was a model and modern hospital in both its design and operation. He stressed that the new recruitments that will be required, will be completed 3 months before the certification of the project.

“The hospital will be digital with integrated information and communication systems,” he added.

He cited as an example the Papageorgiou hospital, which is part of the NSS and is on duty and treats patients on an equal footing with the other three hospitals in Thessaloniki. “Patients, like all Thessalonians, trust it and are proud of it because it is truly a jewel for the health system. “It is the best version of a public hospital integrated in the NSS under the supervision of the Ministry of Health”, he underlined.

In fact, Ms. Gaga clarified that the Ministry of Health and the government have the right and the strong will to choose the management model of the hospitals. “Let me remind you that free means that all Greek citizens pay for it. There are no money trees. “We, the taxpayers, give the money and we are obliged to use it,” he said.

At the same time, he responded to the deputies who voted against the donation for the Komotini hospital and are now preparing to vote against the donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the Pediatric Hospital of Thessaloniki, under the pretext that it will function as a legal entity under private law with non-profit character. “It simply came to our notice then. “It does not correspond to reality … We do not take money from the uninsured under the Mitsotakis government, I do not know what was happening under the SYRIZA government”, he stressed.

For his part, the MP of the Hellenic Solution, Costas Hitas, fired at the government, noting that “with a foreign hut you are making a memorial. You are creating a culture of reduced state participation. ”

Referring to Ms. Gaga, she said that “Escobar παλαι used to build old hospitals… I do not know if we should operate as a laundry εδώ here…”, noting that the government is instrumentalizing private donations and presenting them to the citizens as its own work.
