The special rapporteur of SYRIZA, during the debate on the budget in Parliament, also mentioned the tax bill that was passed, speaking of an injustice that crushes freelancers
The budget does not respond to the major critical problems of Greek society, to be precise, the decline in incomes, the private debt, while it does not increase social spending on Health, Education, Social Welfare and Culture, stressed the special rapporteur of SYRIZA -PS, Katerina Notopoulou. While you proceed with tax extortion without recompense, “you don’t even take care of the basics” said Ms. Notopoulou and continued: “You don’t take care of hospitals, health, education, nor school housing. Instead of building the schools for the world’s children, and bringing in teachers, you are closing the ones that are functioning smoothly for…health reasons, as your government’s Marie Antoinette told us impatiently and defiantly the other day, to my question about school mergers in Thessaloniki, to which the local community reacts in unison,” said the SYRIZA-PS member of parliament.
He then noted that “we are third in Europe in young people who are neither employed nor trained to enter the labor market” while the government is cutting spending on OAED and education. As for gender equality at work, she said it was “a real shame that we have the biggest gender employment gap in the European Union”.
In closing, the senior opposition MP said the government’s first nature is political fraud, its second nature is injustice and that “everyone remembers your recent election announcements to increase disposable income”. [..] but you “brought unfair tax, which crushes freelancers, self-employed and small and medium-sized businesses, brought unfair insurance and unfair labor framework, which squeezes wages and puts a bomb on insurance, and now you bring unfair budget 2024, which is a monument of social injustice that is why we are voting against him, paving the way for a progressive way out”.
