The Prime Minister’s announcement in his speech tonight in the context of the budget regarding a 20% increase in the on-call compensation of all doctors of the National Health System from January 2024 and which costs 40 million euros are analyzed with specific examples by government officials.

According to information from the government, the 20% increase in the on-call compensation of all NHS doctors is equivalent to an average increase of 1,500 euros per year in their net earnings or over 2,000 euros in gross.

In fact, it is pointed out that this increase is in addition to the 10% increase they received in 2022, as well as the increase they will receive from January due to the reform of the public sector payroll.

So according to specific examples, a curator B’ with 5 years of service, will have received a net salary increased cumulatively by 450 euros per month or 5,400 per year compared to 2019, i.e. an increase of 23%.

According to the same calculations, a Coordinating Head in a hospital, who received 2,747 euros net, from January will receive 3,045 net, i.e. a monthly increase in his salary of 300 euros or an annual increase of 3,600 euros.

According to the same information from the government, the 20% increase means that a doctor will see an average increase of 168 euros per month in his gross earnings and 127 in his net. Over a period of one year, the amounts are 2,102 and 1,529 respectively. Finally, the total fee currently costs the state 208.3 million euros, while with the increase it will amount to 249.9 million euros.

According to the same information, from 2024 the incentive to attract and stay in problematic and barren areas of E.S.Y. qualified doctors and dentists will triple. intervention, which costs 20 million euros. This implies the granting of targeted increases in specific specialties, such as internal pathology, anaesthesiology, radiology and nephrology, but also to cover positions in hospitals in specific regions of the island, mountainous, but not only of the country, such as Kos, Xanthi and Leros. In fact, and in this direction, the Ministry of Health is redesigning the framework of incentives, financial and non-financial, for the stay and attraction of NHS doctors, as well as the areas for which they will be provided, taking into account various variables. The aim, as it is said, is to make the framework of incentives more effective and meaningful, so that it achieves to the maximum extent possible the coverage of the health needs of the whole country.
