The Prime Minister’s announcement in his speech tonight in the context of the budget regarding a 20% increase in the on-call compensation of all doctors of the National Health System from January 2024 and which costs 40 million euros are analyzed with specific examples by government officials.
According to information from the government, the 20% increase in the on-call compensation of all NHS doctors is equivalent to an average increase of 1,500 euros per year in their net earnings or over 2,000 euros in gross.
In fact, it is pointed out that this increase is in addition to the 10% increase they received in 2022, as well as the increase they will receive from January due to the reform of the public sector payroll.

Finally, the total fee currently costs the state 208.3 million euros, while with the increase it will amount to 249.9 million euros.

In fact, and in this direction, the Ministry of Health is redesigning the framework of incentives, financial and non-financial, for the stay and attraction of NHS doctors, as well as the areas for which they will be provided, taking into account various variables. The aim, as it is said, is to make the framework of incentives more effective and meaningful, so that it achieves to the maximum extent possible the coverage of the health needs of the whole country.
