The budget of the Municipality of Athens for 2024 was approved today by the city council, which sets the development course of the capital as a perspective. According to what he foresees, the revenues of the Municipality will exceed 1 billion euros for the second year, while for the first time the amount of the investment program is 180.55 million euros. Expenses in relation to income appear balanced, while a surplus of 17.86 million euros is recorded. The 2024 budget also includes the large technical program, the amount of which amounts to 130.64 million euros against 105.97 million euros in 2023.

According to what is reported by the municipal Authority, for the first time secured financing exceeded 541.9 million euros. The amount of the implemented investment program of the Municipality in 2019 reached 15.69 million euros, while at the end of 2023 it has exceeded 110 million euros. The investment program of the last four years is twice as much as the investment program executed from 2011 to 2019. In addition, within a period of two years fees have been reduced by a total of 10%, despite inflationary pressure and parallel crises in the economy.

In the previous months Moody’s upgraded the credit rating of the Municipality of Athens and in his report he applauded the Municipal Authority for the financial position of the Municipality, the management of finances and the low levels of debt.

“The words are needless. The numbers speak for themselves. We leave a house-possessed Municipalitywith increased revenues, surplus, reserve, an unprecedented investment program, but also a mammoth technical program”, said the mayor Kostas Bakoyannis and added: “The Municipality of 2023 it has nothing to do with the municipality of 2019″.
