“Europe is saying goodbye to a true pioneer of its unity. And Greece a sincere friend, whose initiatives helped her own national progress.

Jacques Delors was a visionary leader as well as a pragmatic politician who promoted the European idea, the common currency and the security of our Union. At the same time, however, it persistently served the economic convergence of its societies. So, he was not just one of the most unique leaders of our continent. But a unique founder of the open future.

The Greeks do not forget his support and solidarity in every difficult moment of the country. On behalf of all of them, I express my sadness at his loss.”
