Mr. Marinakis during his visit to the ERT Radio House where he was accompanied by the Secretary General of Communication and Information Dimitris Galamatis
“It is the prime minister’s personal will Kyriakou Mitsotakis for our country to change – and it has started to change in the last four years and for there to be a measurable result – and even under very difficult conditions and crises”, emphasized the deputy minister to the prime minister and government representative Pavlos Marinakisduring his visit today to the ERT Radio House.
Mr. Marinakis, referring to public television, said that it is a case that “on the move” and with respect for its history and with the strengthening of human resources and the addition of new people with appetite and enthusiasm for work, it is also changing, and they see it everyday citizens.
Mr. Marinakis during his visit to Radio station of ERT where he was accompanied by Secretary General of Communication and Information Dimitris Galamatistoured the premises of the Radio Megaros, the studios and also the archive of Public Television, whose digitization has begun, an ambitious and visionary plan that will leave an important legacy on public television.
In his statement later, Mr. Marinakis spoke, among other things, of a “qualitative and substantial upgrade, at the level of building facilities and logistical infrastructure and a very ambitious plan which, at the end of the day, will produce a product that will ‘return’ to the Greek citizens”.
The deputy minister met with the president of ERT Constantinos Zoula and the managing director Katerina Kaskaniotis and they discussed the draft of the new Strategic Planning 2024 – 2027. They were joined by ERT Vangelis Louridasgeneral director of Administrative and Financial Services, Sokratis Hatziioannou, director of Financial Services and Kostis Filippopoulos, head of Legal Services.
After the briefing and his meetings, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis stated:
“It was with great pleasure that we met today with the General Secretary of Communication and Information, Mr. Dimitris Galamatis, at the ERT Radio Building, visiting the facilities and studios and we had a very meaningful discussion with Mr. Zoula and Ms. Kaskaniotis who thank you for the cooperation and for today’s meeting. Essentially, we were asked all the current issues as well as the big goals of the next months and the next years. I don’t want to say many words, because I think the work that has been produced in the last – a little more than – four years speaks for itself, which respects and honors the money of the Greek taxpayer, respects and honors what has been done in the previous decades on state television. Qualitative and substantial upgrading, at the level of building facilities and logistical infrastructure and a very ambitious plan which, at the end of the day, will produce a product that will “return” to the Greek citizens.
With great importance in ERTNews which is now starting and becoming, a very strong voice of information for all Greek citizens, a very strong voice of our country gradually from one end to the other, but also all the other channels that continue very dynamically the their work.
I will single out ERTFLIX, which in a few months, in April, turns 4 years old. It is something that, if we sit and look at it for a while, we will see how it grows day by day, month by month, something that a few years ago would have been unheard of, what can be produced in such a short period of time and especially with such a quality product.
I chose to say a few words at the end of this first – of the many that I hope and believe will be – visit and I hope that this and those that will follow will be substantial and come here in the ERT archive. Because this effort that is being made is a very ambitious plan overall for digitization, co-financed by NSRF resources, with a horizon of completion within the next few years. This work begins in the past, takes place in the “now” and can reach the very distant future.
Here, it is a heritage that belongs to the whole of the Greek people, audio-visual material from very historical moments, speeches, debates, great events, it is all that should enter this digitization process and remain to be forever available to the elders who had experienced them and be able to refer back to us younger people who do not know many of them so well but also to those who come, if they want to have the opportunity to get to know them. And we are talking about educational reasons, about access from our schools, we are talking about possibilities that will exist very soon because this process is ongoing.
It is the personal will of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for our country to change – and it has started to change in the last four years and for there to be a measurable result – and even under very difficult conditions and crises.
Public television – and we have said it many times – is a case that is “on the move” and with respect for its history and with the strengthening of human resources and the addition of new people with appetite and enthusiasm for work, it is changing and it is seen daily by citizens. So we have been members of this group for a few weeks now and we will continue for an ERT that is more and more reliable, more and more modern, more and more essential, and more and more effective”.
