Deputy Interior Minister Stelios Petsas slammed Alexis Tsipras, saying that with the rhetoric used by the SYRIZA president, when he loses the next elections he should resign from his party leadership.
“We will wait to see what Mr. Tsipras will do when he loses the next elections. “When he asks a government to leave because he thinks it has failed, when he insists on calling early elections for it, when elections take place he will have to leave himself if he does not win this bet,” Mr. Petsas told SKAI TV and the show “Unmatched”.
He stressed that no election preparations are being made at the Ministry of Interior, nor is there any thought of changing the time of their holding, noting that just a few days ago the Prime Minister himself said that the polls will be set in four years.
Regarding the electoral law, Mr. Petsas stressed that it will not change, it was voted by this government, it is less strengthened, but the government estimates that the bet of autonomy will be won.
Support for the energy crisis will continue
The deputy minister stressed that the government has been continuously supporting households and businesses since September due to rising energy costs.
“In total, we have given 2 billion Euros, more than one unit of GDP for the support, either through subsidies for electricity and gas or for the adjustment to the farmers and we will continue to do so,” he stressed.
The financial staff, he added, can support the economy for as long as it is needed because there is now confidence in the Greek economy. Mr. Petsas pointed out that the government is making parallel moves to stay more in the pockets of citizens, by reducing taxes and increasing the minimum wage.
