SYRIZA criticizes the government’s foreign and defense policy
Criticism of the government’s foreign and defense policy is exercised by his announcement SYRIZA-PSarguing that “the holding of the 5th round of the Greece-US strategic dialogue, an initiative established in December 2018 under the SYRIZA government, confirms that the Mitsotakis government is inferior to the circumstances, trapped in its strategic choice of an “advanced outpost” of the West ».
He then explains that “instead of the multi-level promotion of Greek-American relations on a mutually beneficial basis, as was the goal of the Tsipras government, the current government insists on dealing with Greek-American relations in the logic of the “given ally”, assuming responsibilities outside international organizations and violating the fixed multidimensional foreign policy of Greece. The congratulatory reports of the American Ministry of Foreign Affairs for our participation in the Prosperity Guardian operation in the Red Sea and the government’s stance unilaterally in favor of Israel are characteristic”.
SYRIZA-PS clarifies: “Firstly, regarding the equipment issues, it expects immediate information if there are, and what they are, the conditions for supplying Turkey with F-16s.
Second, he expects an immediate update on information about sending munitions to Ukraine via Bulgaria and any related discussion with the US as recorded in the Blinken letter about the F35s. SYRIZA-PS opposes the Mitsotakis policy which leads to the frontline of Greece’s military involvement in the Ukrainian conflict and will not accept a weakening of the Greek defense especially on the islands.
Thirdly, SYRIZA-PS considers that the criterion for Greece’s armaments policy should be the protection of national sovereignty and not the “due observance of its commitment at the Wales NATO Summit with more than 3.5% of GDP ” for which the USA excommunicated Greece”.
In closing, he asks Mr. Mitsotakis “to immediately clarify to what extent he is taking into account the country’s fiscal capabilities or if they are also sacrificed on the altar of the “given ally”.
