“The Digital Work Card is an important reform that ensures workers, benefits the Greek economy overall and in the long term and facilitates employers,” said the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domna Michailidou, during an event, which took place today, Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce (Piraeus).

At today’s event for the Digital Work Card, held at the BEP offices in Piraeus, in addition to the Chamber’s board and its president, Giorgos Papamanolis Doza, the president of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce, Theodoros Kapralos, were “present” as well and several businessmen.

As pointed out in a relevant announcement, today’s event is part of the information events held throughout Greece by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, which is in open dialogue with the social partners and the Chambers, in order to publicize the benefits of Digital Job Cards for all sectors of the economy.

Mrs. Michailidou, addressing the participants, said: “The Digital Labor Card brings to light any unfair practices and distortions in the labor market, creating a healthy and competitive environment”, while she emphasized that the digital recording of working hours and overtime ensures compliance of labor rights, putting an end to phenomena of undeclared and implied work.

“There is an open dialogue with the social partners, the Chambers and the professional bodies” noted the Minister of Labor and Social Security, “in order to capture the specialized needs of each business and to have improvement interventions, which will make the application of the card more effective ».

As he said, such events are a way to solve questions, but also an opportunity to listen to the suggestions and concerns of the market people.

At another point in her presentation, Mrs. Michailidou made it clear that the Digital Work Card is not a punitive measure, but a key reform, which was implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, with the aim of protecting workers, promoting transparency and accountability and the strengthening of social security, through the fight against undeclared work, which ensures the income of the insurance system, laying the foundations for its long-term sustainability.
