The practical commitment of Greece to the values ​​of the European Union for solidarity and unity was expressed by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domna Michailidou, standing in favor of the EU Directive. on digital platforms, which was the result of many months of negotiations, dialogue and elaboration between Member States.

During the meeting of the Council for Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumers, held in Brussels, Mrs. Michailidou said: “We decided to support the Directive, because we are in the same Union, with the same needs and the same demands from the our people. Greece expressed all its concerns, as it has done all these previous months, concerns mainly in relation to the lack of full legal clarity”.

The Minister of Labor added that, in Greece, the legislative framework that exists is in favor of workers on platforms, where safety at work is guaranteed and collective bargaining rights are applied.

As pointed out in a related announcement, the agreed text strikes a balance between respecting national labor systems and ensuring minimum standards of protection for the more than 28 million people working on digital work platforms across the EU. Consensus between the Ministers of Employment, Social Policy , Health and Consumers, was also during the debate on the future policies of the European Pillar of Social Rights.

In her statement, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domna Michailidou, underlined: “We need more active policies to boost productivity and income. We need to provide the right incentives in order to move from passive to active labor market policies and make sure that people enter or re-enter the labor market smoothly.”

As part of her visit to Brussels, Mrs. Michailidou also participated in the working breakfast of the People’s Party and the informal working breakfast of the Council for Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumers.
