The front of the progressive forces against the government on the issue of Tempe is expected – barring the unexpected – to form today with SYRIZA, PASOK, the New Left and the Freedom Movement hoping, through the Plenary, to highlight all the issues related to the tragic accident in Tempe. With a different rationale, the KKE is expected to support Harilaou Trikoupi’s proposal, while the other parties are also opposed to the government. Will specific forces stumble over the details and the final text that will be shaped?

Information wants the behind-the-scenes talks to have started, as well as in Koumoundourou they want to have a say in the motion of no confidence request. Anything else would be disastrous, since if the parties of the center-left do not find a common field, it will be seen that the fragmentation of the space, the hegemony of the New Democracy and its unprecedented distance from the other parliamentary forces in post-revolutionary times are not accidental.

According to reliable information, not all of his deputies were SYRIZA agree to proceed with this move. Almost two months before the elections, many believed that only a rally in New Democracy would provide this particular parliamentary “weapon”. At the same time, however, the participation of the other opposition parties (which are enough to gather 50 signatures) with the exception of SYRIZA would put his parliamentary group in an awkward position and in isolation Stefanou Kasselakis. It is a given that the official opposition will be asked to give explanations for the president’s aversion to the need for an international commission to hold elections.

At a time when the European elections are approaching and therefore opinion polls play a very large role in shaping public opinion SYRIZA and PASOK they don’t want to make the mistake. The same is true for the New Left which is on the rise and has shown quick reflexes (it had requested a motion of no confidence on non-state universities on March 6), but also for Freedom Sailing with Zoe Konstantopoulou to be strong in the “game » for the election of an MEP. The opposition parties, especially SYRIZA and PASOK, who are fighting for second place, consider it an opportunity for Kyriakos Mitsotakis to come to the Parliament for this specific issue. It is recalled that the prime minister was not present during the discussion of the conclusion of New Democracy last week. Now there will be an opportunity for targeted criticism from all quarters. Experienced parliamentarians from the ranks of the opposition believe that it will be difficult for him to escape from the position of defender both for the causes of the accident and for the accusations of a cover-up.
