Second round of confrontation between Maki Voridis and Nikos Pappa noted in Parliament as part of the discussion of the motion of no confidence tabled by opposition parties.

“The motion of no confidence you submitted is not against the Government, but against the parliamentary majority. Against the Parliament because you didn’t like its decisions as they were taken in the case of Tempes, but also in the other issues you raise” stated the Minister of State Makis Voridis, intervening and commenting on the positions of the rapporteurs of SYRIZA, PASOK and the president of Plefsis Eleftherias.

The minister accused the Opposition of trying to consolidate the motion of no confidence against the Government with “absurdities, lies, slanders, slanders, irrelevant connections, suspicions, insinuations. This is your policy.” “You want,” he said, “to exploit human suffering. But we don’t give you human sensitivity”

He wondered “where does the involvement of the Prime Minister come from?” Nowhere from the need of your real motivation to create conditions for political exploitation of a human tragedy. And today we have the crown and the reinforcement of this political purpose. And today your method was shown.”

Mr. Voridis, addressing SYRIZA, said that “I see that he has chosen Mr. Pappas as his rapporteur on the issues concerning the Rule of Law and the manipulation of the Media! It’s a pity that Mr. Dimitris Papagelopoulos has not been selected to be your second choice, so that the set of the Rule of Law is completed”

The minister argued that “from a party (Syriza) which has seen its Ministers convicted for matters of the operation of the Rule of Law and its leader (Mr. Tsipras) has confessed to the attempt to set up courts and create criminals , one would expect lower tones about the Rule of Law. Because we all have a story and a path.”

Mr. Voridis said that with the positions developed by the rapporteurs of SYRIZA and PASOK-KINAL “I felt deja vu, as I listen again to the discussion that took place a week ago during the discussion of the conclusion of the Inquiry Committee. Exactly the same arguments” and “you want the Government to fall because you don’t like the opinion of the parliamentary majority”!

The minister pointed out that the issues of the wiretapping, the Tempes, the European Parliament resolution have been discussed in the room repeatedly and he wondered “what happened on Sunday when Mr. Androulakis made the proposal for a motion of no confidence?” adding that “the only thing that existed was the publication of VIMATOS, but where this article repeats issues resolved a year ago. Solved and answered, for a year now!

Mr. Voridis rejected the claims of “editing to attribute the human factor as the cause of the tragedy in Tempi” wondering “is the station master of Larissa being held badly?” and noted that “it’s different to say how the human factor came together and see if there are further issues”

The minister, addressing the President of Freedom of Navigation, Zoi Konstantopoulou, said that “you personally are the definition of slander, systematic lies, slander, not us”.

Mr. Voridis wondered if the Opposition parties are coming to this process with the “aim to solve the questions they have?” And if you are asking for the Government to fall, why do you want clarifications from the Prime Minister?”

The Minister of State emphasized that “it is too much for SYRIZA to teach us lessons about the Rule of Law when during the days of his government the country fell 13 places, it is too much, you do not have this legalization” and indeed “with an EP resolution that presents Greece where journalists are persecuted!”

“The violations of the rule of law are unprecedented”

“SYRIZA-PS demanded the resignation of the government and the holding of national elections, because the number and scale of the violations of the rule of law are unprecedented. Public opinion has reached a conclusion: That there was an attempt to cover up in Tempi. And these three days, will be the days when the cover-up ends. Both for Mr. Mitsotakis and for Mr. Karamanlis,” SYRIZA MP Nikos Pappas emphasized earlier during his motion on the motion of no confidence against the government.

Addressing the government seats, he said that “you ruled when the wiretapping took place, when personal data was leaked, when Tempi happened. And you will resign. So that the Democracy can breathe and the people can speak”.

“Elections are the solution” said Mr. Pappas and supporting the proposal of the president of his party he added “And of course with observers, who will be informed in advance that voter data has been extracted and used by the party that was to the government”.

“You are in a situation in which, contrary to what your founder said that “we are doing well outside”, you are not doing well neither outside nor inside” he noted and argued that the European Parliament, the Commission, the European Prosecutor, but also the public opinion that by 90% believes that the government is attempting a cover-up in Tempe.

Regarding the case of the Tempe accident, Mr. Pappas also underlined that with each passing hour we may have new revelations. “They have opened their mouths. You had one goal. The privatization of the railway infrastructure. A few days before the accident, Mr. Karamanlis had announced that you were preparing three PPPs for the maintenance of the line. We accuse you of consciously abandoning the railway. And when it happened the accident you put forward a double strategy: mixing-unmixing and editing,” he said.

Referring to the prime minister, he pointed out that Mr. Mitsotakis, the day after the accident, at 1.30 in the afternoon, made reference to human error and wondered: “Did he have access to the audios himself? I don’t think so. Had he spoken to Mr. Terezakis? We will wait to find out. . Had he spoken to the police? But the police did not have the files in their hands. The question arises: How did Mr. Mitsotakis know about human error? Tell us what were the sources of his information. The revelation about the cutting and sewing came out yesterday and you didn’t ask for an apology”.

“The cover-up has become your first nature. Both on the wiretapping issues and on the illegal extraction of voter data and on the Tempe crime-accident case. You must allow democracy to breathe. Beyond trying to over-concentrate economic activity , you are trying to over-concentrate political power,” concluded Mr. Pappas.
