“Let them finally leave my family out of the political conflict,” said the prime minister
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis describes Elena Akrita’s post about his wife Mareva as “vulgar and unprovoked”.
Mr. Mitsotakis, with his post on Facebook, states that he is ready to appear in court as a witness and to support his wife in the legal measures she will activate against Elena Akrita.
The post of Kyriakos Mitsotakis in more detail:
I am writing this post as a husband and not as a Prime Minister. Since the day of my election as leader of New Democracy, Mareva has been brutally targeted for one reason only. Because she is my wife and so some people thought they would harm me. A deeply good and moral man, with a completely independent professional path, was trampled and made headlines. Our family cohesion was tested. We have often wondered with our children if it is worth paying this family price to deal with the public.
But we persevered, and for the moment we thought that at least this phase of political toxicity had passed. Until Mareva made headlines again with a completely false and non-existent article. To be followed by a vulgar and unprovoked post by the SYRIZA member of parliament. It takes a great writing talent to fit so many lies and so much malice into one post.
Mareva will take legal action. And I will be a witness in court to defend her. Anyone who wants to argue with me politically is free to do so. But let them finally leave my family out of the political conflict.
