The charge will be violence against a member of parliament in the performance of his duties – K. Floros is detained at the guard station and will be taken to GADA
Reporting: Yannis Anifantis
The president of the Parliament, Kostas Tasoulas, is initiating the spontaneous procedure against the independent MP, Konstantinos Floros, after the episode in the Parliament, during which he grabbed the Hellenic Solution MP, Vassilis Grammenos, by the throat.
The charge will be violence against a member of parliament in the performance of his duties.
K. Floros is detained at the guard station and will be taken to GADA.
Kostas Tasoulas said: “The arsenal of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament did not have the imagination to think that an elected member can punch another member. We will extend our imagination to these versions as well.
The Criminal Code is proactive, Article 157 for crimes against political bodies, and provides under Law 46/19 of the New PC whoever by force or threat of force attempts to coerce the PtD, the Parliament, the government or a member who is reduced to duties as well as whoever acts violently against them in the exercise of their duties shall be punished by imprisonment for up to 10 years.
This means that because immunity covers misdemeanors and not felonies, we can charge the offender with a felon.
I ordered that he be brought to the authorities as there is evidence of violence in the course of his duties.
I heard about vulgar insults, the minutes will be sent as well as the testimony of police officers who heard these insults to the justice system for further proceedings”.
How it all began – The dialogue that preceded it
The episode between the independent MP, Konstantinos Floros and the deputy of Hellenic Solution Vassilis Grammenoutook place outside the Plenary with the first grabbing the second by the neck and throwing him to the floor.
There had been a verbal episode between them while the removal of Kyriakos Velopoulos’ immunity was being discussed.
The Hellenic Solution MP was taken to the Parliament clinic.
“We thought we were basically addressing people. By regulation, I remove him with the guard for 15 days from the proceedings. Obviously, and there will be a process of removing immunity. He will also face the legal consequences” said Mr. Tasoulas.
According to what K. Floros mentioned in a dialogue they had between them, V. Grammenos addressed him with abusive and insulting characteristics.
According to everything he said, they had the following conversation:
K. Floros: This will be decided by the judges.
B. Grammenos: Shut up you garbage
K. Floros: Come on
B. Grammenos: C@@ your mother… I’ll take you, your mother, and with the bracelets inside you’ll remember it in the past@@@
