“We don’t want any votes from the far right. No vote from the Spartans” says the cousin of the SYRIZA president and MEP candidate, Vassilis Kasselakis after the uproar that erupted from his statements yesterday on the Kontra Channel in which he said that “their votes are welcome”.

“In my statement yesterday on Mrs. Natasha Yamali’s show on Kontra and cheating on a question regarding the votes of the Spartans, I expressed my personal opinion that every vote is treated with respect. From then on, both SYRIZA PS and its President Stefanos Kasselakis have made it clear that we do not want any vote from the extreme right. No vote from the Spartans” points out Vassilis Kasselakis with his post on social media.

Yesterday, Vassilis Kasselakis, speaking on the Kontra Channel, specifically emphasized: “Look, the paradox is that governments whose policies have led to the rise of such far-right movements are trying to ban them. What everyone votes for, voting is an expression of freedom and independent thinking, so what everyone votes for is good. They are welcome” and added: “From then on, the ND with three failed attempts to legislate (it) finally did and they were banned by the Supreme Court”.

Romanos: In a normal party, he would have been deleted

In his statement about his cousin’s statement Stefanou Kasselakis the press representative of the ND, Nikos Romanos, says that “in a normal party, Mr. Kasselakis would have already been deleted. But a normal party would also submit a memorandum to the Areopagus within the deadline and would not play the ridiculous theater we saw the day before yesterday.”

Nikos Romanos notes that “Yesterday, the Supreme Court decided that the Spartans will not participate in the European elections. A little later, the president of the Spartans, Mr. Stigas, describes Mr. Kasselakis as dignified for not filing a memorandum on the case. The same evening, the cousin of Mr. Kasselakis and SYRIZA MEP candidate describes the votes of the Spartans as welcome. And all this, on the day of the beating in the Parliament, with the leading member of parliament voted with the Spartans”.

As the press representative of the ND says “Also, a normal party would not collude with Golden Dawn over time on a series of affairs, as SYRIZA does. He would find a courtroom for them to be judged. He would not vote laws with them, with the then president of the Parliament Mr. Nikos Fili saying that “there are no unwelcome votes”. They would not have demonstrated together in the times of the upper and lower square, when together they overthrew the Samara-Venizelos Government”.

“Unfortunately, it proves once again that no matter how much the shop window changes, SYRIZA does not!”, concludes Nikos Romanos.

SYRIZA: It is provocative that ND is pointing the finger at us

In a statement on Thursday afternoon, SYRIZA attacks the ND stating that “it is provocative for the ND to point the finger at SYRIZA for relations with the Far Right” without taking a direct position on the statement of Vassilis Kasselakis.

The announcement of SYRIZA

“It is provocative that the ND points the finger at SYRIZA for relations with the Far Right. The party that has a vice president from LAOS. The party that has as number 2 in Megaros Maximos the “axeman” Makis Voridis. The party that presented Eleonora Meleti with glory and honor as a candidate for the European Parliament, who washed away the fascist Chrysaugitis, condemned as the leader of a criminal organization with her television interview. The ND of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Akrodexia are communicating vessels. There, after all, the gross violations of the rule of law for which the State Department, the European Prosecutor’s Office, the Commission and the European Parliament refer to the totalitarian perceptions and toxicity of the Far Right. Together with the Far Right, the MEPs of the ND voted against the resolution – a bottleneck of the European Parliament, with all the progressive forces against it. Unfortunately for ND we all know each other well in this place.

Let us add that only the President of SYRIZA stated directly and unequivocally that we do NOT want the votes of far-right formations. Does Mr. Mitsotakis dare to say the same? We challenge him…”
