The conference, under the auspices of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy and with the support of the United Nations Ocean Decade Initiative, was opened by the President of the Delphi Economic Forum, Mr. S. Tsomokos, and the Director of the European Organization Of Law, Professor Sp. Flogaitis, who referred to the importance of the sea for Greece and the Mediterranean. Mr. Flogaitis noted the actions of the Organization in the context of his position as Permanent Observer at the UN General Assembly and the seat of the Organization in Cascais, Portugal for Blue Economy and Maritime Law.

Speaking on the same subject, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. George Amyras, pointed out the financial instruments of the European Union for the Blue Economy, fish farming and fisheries, as well as the bill under preparation of the Ministry on offshore wind farms and for overfishing protection and the Sustainable Tourism Strategy. Professor Vladimir Ryabinin, Head of the United Nations Decade of Oceans Initiative (IOC UNESCO), referred to the need to scientifically examine the ecosystem services provided to us by the Oceans and congratulated the EU on its Offshore Space Initiatives marine activities.
In the same context, on environmental initiatives and climate diplomacy, the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Nasser Kamel, noted that more and more countries are moving towards a coordinated approach and cross-border cooperation in maritime policy, emphasizing that the Mediterranean countries are pioneers. in Blue Economy issues.
