What we will do with certainty is that we will not bring for ratification the three memoranda resulting from the Prespa Agreement, said the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking to ERT and being asked if he intends to denounce the Prespa Agreement after the provocative positions of the new leadership of North Macedonia.

Now our position is justified, because we saw what was happening, we saw the nationalist frenzy of VMRO, continued Mr. Mitsotakis and repeated that the European course of the neighboring country passes through the respect of the Prespa Agreement and the provisions for the constitutional name.

The prime minister sent a clear warning to the new government in Skopje calling on it to respect the central provision of the Prespa Agreement and to use only the name North Macedonia.

“We will await the official positions of the new government. The first writing samples, however, are extremely negative. On the issue of the name, there is a clear retreat” he said characteristically and referred to the immediate reaction of Athens and the condemnation from both the EU and Washington.
