Greece’s relations with the USA were mentioned by the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias in his post on X, on the sidelines of his meeting with a Delegation of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

As he wrote: “I met today with a Delegation of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, led by its President, Mr. @IvoHDaalder and the Executive Director of the Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC), Mr. Endy @Zemenides.

I informed the participants about the strategic relationship between Greece and the United States and the expansion and deepening of our cooperation in the defense sector, following the two new MDCA Protocols, which I signed with my counterparts, Mr. Mike Pompeo, in 2019 and Mr. Antony Blinken , in 2021.

We also discussed the security situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the role of Greece as a factor of security and stability in the wider region. The meeting was also attended by the Chief of the General Directorate of Defense, General Dimitrios Houpis, the Chief of General Staff of the Greek Army Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Chief of General Staff Vice-Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras PN and the Chief of General Staff of the General Staff Vice Admiral (I) Demosthenes Grigoriadis».
