On his TV and to “Mismatched» the Minister of the Interior was a guest on Tuesday morning, Niki Kerameos.

With reference to the fines imposed by the Personal Data Protection Authority on the Ministry of the Interior (€400,000) and on Anna Michele Asimakopoulou (€40,000) for the issue of emails, Mrs. Kerameos characterized as positive that the Authority moved much faster than the prescribed procedures.

“It has now been established that the story of the infamous emails has nothing to do with either postal voting or electoral processes as such. During this whole period, we heard the opposition parties casting shadows about fraud, etc., as he pointed out.

“They are asking me to resign for a case that happened when I was a candidate for parliament and not the minister of the interior”

“However, the most important thing is that we are talking about a case much earlier than when I started to be Minister of the Interior”, added Mrs. Kerameos, to explain:

“When did this story take place, according to the Authority’s decision? In June 2023 before the National Elections with a caretaker government. The particular file with the emails was created on June 8th and talks about June 23rd traffic. I want to remind you that for the last 3 months the opposition has been asking me to resign. First for a hack that never happened, now for a leak of personal data at a time when I was a candidate for parliament. Populism also has a limit.”

“75,000 postal votes have already been omitted”

Regarding her postal votethe minister stated that tens of thousands of Greeks have already “cast” their vote by mail, with this number reaching 75,000 until yesterday.

“In case someone regrets it and wishes to go live and vote, there is a provision: on Saturday afternoon, additional electoral rolls are going to be issued for those registered who have not sent back the material. In this way, even from 11 in the morning, our fellow citizens will be able to vote.”
