The KKE states in its statement that it calls on the Ministry of the Interior “to immediately assume its responsibilities for the serious problem that has been created”
“Serious concerns about the way the postal voting process is conducted» expresses the KKE in a statement of the Press Office of the KKE of the party. He notes that “what he has already expressed all this time since the passing of the law, then the process of handing over the files, until today, is confirmed” and adds:
“In the last two days, from complaints that have come to the KKE, but also from what its election representatives, who have been on site since the first day, have found that:
– A number of electoral files were received that do not meet the requirements of the law (law 5083/2024) for the valid postal voting procedure (opened or damaged postal vote return envelopes), with the result that on the one hand they are not counted and on the other hand the voters are not informed in time that their envelope was not delivered so that they can vote even in physical presence. On this matter, he made a relevant objection-intervention yesterday without a convincing answer being given.
– Based on the current procedure so far, there are thousands of postal vote return envelopes that do not include all the necessary legalizing documents, (responsible declaration/identity information), therefore they will not be counted during the selection either.”
In conclusion, the KKE states that “all in all, it appears that, already for thousands of voters who voted by mail, their vote will not be counted in the election result”, depriving them “essentially of their right to vote” and calls on the Ministry of the Interior to “immediately take over his responsibilities for the serious problem that has been created and to take whatever measures are needed in order to properly complete the counting process that will start at 7:00 pm”.
