The Prime Minister proposed to deal with unfair commercial practices by multinationals Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his visit to the Ministry of Development, repeating the request for pan-European action.

In a joint statement after the end of the meeting with the new minister Takis Theodorikakos it was emphasized that all measures against punctuality will continue until the end of the year and it was pointed out that the aim is not only to reduce inflation but also food prices.

“In order to eliminate oligopolistic monopolies, we need healthy entrepreneurship, whether it’s producers or large chains,” said the prime minister, speaking of “a bet that we will all win together.”

“Our decision is to continue the bold structural interventions that after one semester are bringing the first results as in May we had the seventh lowest inflation in Europe and signs of de-escalation,” said Mr. Mitsotakis.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis returned to the issue of multinationals, calling for pan-European action, as he points out in his intervention – letter to the president of the European Commission. “I insist in my letter to the Commission that we have identified problems in the operation of multinationals that sell at different prices in the smaller markets, in which we will find allies.”

The new Minister of Development confirmed that all measures such as the cap on the profit margin and the consumer basket will continue until the end of the year. At the same time, the Control Mechanism and the eConsumer platform will be strengthened within ten days with 30 men.
