The use of artificial intelligence for the Land Registry was mentioned by the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakis in the context of the ATHENS RIVIERA FORUM 2024 on the topic “The Roadmap of the Global Digital Transformation: Turning the Vision into Reality” speaking of an AI system which reads in natural language contracts. As he said, “we are pilot testing some programs and in the medium term our aim is to expand the prospects. A lot of administrative work in all services and levels of the state will be able to be done thanks to AI in a very short time”, Mr. Kyranakis emphasized and spoke of better management of human resources, for their retraining.

At the same time, he even underlined that “it is the first summer in Greece that we will detect fires early thanks to the application of artificial intelligence systems, although it is in a pilot stage, but we will see how it will perform”. For the health sector, Mr. Kyranakis referred to the collaboration of the public hospital Ag. Saturday with MIT, University of Massachusetts about a test of an algorithm to predict cancer cases.

For his part, the British Paul Scully, MP and Former Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy, everything has changed, our daily life from our transactions, the transfer of money, the Stock Exchange to our markets. “Data has changed both our own lives and that of governments”, while he pointed out that “we must be ready to build on more digital skills”.

In her turn, Gianna Andropoulou, General Manager, Microsoft Greece, Cyprus & Malta emphasized that “we are seeing an explosion in all sectors, companies that are already using AI say they want to continue doing this on other levels precisely because their capabilities but also their productivity increase”, while he added that “we are ready to move forward as long as there is the right framework and people with the right skills”.

And Kyriakos Sambatakis, Country Managing Director, Accenture Greece, referred to AI tools that can be applied in many sectors. In a relevant study carried out by his company, it was found that the Greek economy is still slow in terms of the absorption of technology, however, after the covid, an acceleration was found and “now things are in the right upward direction”.
