The harsh criticism that Antonis Samaras made of the Mitsotakis government yesterday at the War Memorial was commented on by the MP of New Democracy
The joint appearance yesterday of Antonis Samaras and Kostas Karamanlis during the presentation of the book by Manolis Kottakis at the War Museum and the harsh criticism that Mr. Samaras made of the Mitsotakis government was commented on by Dora Bakoyannis, a guest on SKAI’s “Today”.
As she said, she was impressed by some things from yesterday’s event, such as: “the presences, such as Mrs. Thanou who enthusiastically applauded Mr. Samaras” she explained.
About the talks of the two former ND leaders, Ms. Bakoyannis commented:
“They were two completely different reasons – Karamanlis made an analysis about Europe and national issues, things we all agree on.
Mr. Samaras testified his personal bitterness, that he is not being playedthat was the message I understood from his speech”
To the question “why now”, in the 5th year of ND government, Ms. Bakoyannis estimated:
“He might have wanted to make his criticism after 41% in the national election, but then he couldn’t make it. Now (after the European elections and the disappointing result for the ND) – undoubtedly because the political system was hit in the European elections and there is a lot of turmoil in the other two parties – he considers that this is the momentum in which he can also proceed in submitting his own views. Bye, with pleasure, it doesn’t matter,” he emphasized.
“There are many reasons – from everyday problems to delays in the Coastal Act – that many people are bitter about. New Democracy has not left its principles and values – such as liberalism and social sensitivity” said Dora Bakoyannis when asked if New Democracy listens to the most “right-wing concerns” of society and the party’s voters.
For the “disheartening image” and the “insults” the country receives in national issuesas Antonis Samaras said yesterday in his speech, the ND MP commented:
“The world around us is changing, the constants of Europe – prosperity and peace – are no longer stable and are threatened by Ukraine and the Middle East. Europe itself is in turmoil and for the first time Greece has an essential role in this Europe”.
For her North Macedonia and the criticism of Antonis Samaras, Dora Bakoyannis said:
“During the Prime Ministership of Antonis Samaras, the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time Evangelos Venizelos – on behalf of the Samara government – spoke to the UN and said that Greece is in favor of him geographical designation, Erga omnes, just as is the fixed position of Greece, since the day we made Bucharest. Let’s end this story, this is a reality and it doesn’t change. Let him tell Mr. Venizelos “I am the prime minister of the country, I do not accept a complex name and be careful not to say that”.
For Prespa Agreementthe ND deputy clarified that “international agreements do not change».
“Skopje today is in a difficult position because it is not only facing Greece but the entire international community.”
