Today, July 2 and the process of submitting tax returns is entering a new era. AADE activates the automatic submission of pre-filled tax returns for 1.3 million employees and pensioners who have no income from other sources.

But since leaps forward rarely come without problems, here too there were quite a few … glitches and we repeatedly urged readers who fall into the 2 categories above to check their statements even though they were pre-filled.

Since the opening of the platform for submitting tax returns on April 25, errors have been observed, among other things:

  • In the incomes and taxes that have been withheld from the data sent by employers and EFKA
  • In the family situation and especially in the number of protected children that increase the tax-free
  • On the evidence
  • In the amount of receipts of expenses with plastic money or electronic money that must correspond to 30% of the income.
  • In the image of the cars circulating in 2023
  • In the posting of extraordinary pensioners’ allowances
  • In the listing of deposit interest from the data provided by the banks

As it became known, 3,637 people were informed by AADE that they have been sent updated data on their earnings and that their statement has changed. About 8,000 taxpayers who updated their information on their own must file their own tax return by July 26.

(I will not mention here errors and omissions that have to do with the tax declarations of self-employed professionals where a new system is applied to them as well, so problems will reasonably arise).

In addition, those taxpayers who have already modified their return, saved it but did not submit it, should also be alert. Today the system will not submit the modified declaration but the original one!!!!

FORTUNATELY here it is NOT the case that no error is recognized after the removal from the checkout. Instead, the period from July 2 to July 26 can be used by taxpayers to submit amended returns without penalty. Therefore, if the taxpayer sees the statement and finds it unjustifiably “inflated”, there is time to correct things by correcting the information he considers incorrect.

The necessary supporting documents must also be submitted to the competent DOU by those who have submitted a tax return with reservation. If they do not do so within 30 days, their tax return will be cleared as normal.

All of the above, combined with the fact that up to now 1 in 3 taxpayers has submitted a tax return, and mainly the self-employed, have led the federation of accountants – tax technicians as well as the opposition parties and even ND MPs such as Mr. Karasmanis to request an extension of the deadline for submitting tax returns.
