The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, launched a severe attack on SYRIZA, rejecting the accusations of the president of the K.O party, Sokratis Famelos, who, citing the complaints of Pavlos Polakis, spoke of a major financial scandal at the Philiatron Health Center.

As Mr. Georgiadis pointed out TAIPED had the authority, the procedure has been observed exactly as provided for public international contracts, an international public tender was held and the Audit Court checked the whole procedure and decided that all the offers were beneficial for the Greek State. At the same time, he accused the official opposition of being seduced by Mr. Polakis who supposedly invents scandals, while he argued that in fact its leader, Stefanos Kaselakis, does not want to delete him.

“The following oxymoron is happening with Mr. Polakis and SYRIZA. Mr. Polakis invents a big so-called scandal, says it, his online friends rush to deify it – having no idea what we’re talking about – and then you, fearing their online friends, do what Mr. Famelos did and yesterday Mr. Kaselakis.

It is obvious that with the deletion of Mr. Polakis from the SYRIZA Committee, you messed up very badly. Because in reality Mr. Kaselakis does not want to delete, he cannot delete him. As a result, half of you want a complete deletion and the other half don’t know what to say so that you don’t find yourself in a difficult position and Polakis has a party. I see that if this continues, he will become the leader of SYRIZA normally and not just a guy“, said Mr. Georgiadis.

Responding to Mr. Famelos’ accusations about the Health Center in Filiatra, Mr. Georgiadis countered that “as for the big alleged scandal, the tenders are not set by the Ministry of Health”.

“The Ministry of Health has assigned the entire execution of the building upgrade program of the Recovery Fund to TAIPED. This is what all tenders do, not the Ministry of Health. In other words, I asked from TAIPED to find out what Mr. Polakis is saying“, he noted and added:

“The specific project that is part of a much larger one and is the energy and functional upgrade and renovation of the Health Centers of Andritsaina, Kresten, Filiatron and Kranidi, amounting to more than 5 million euros, has been awarded following an international public tender, has passed the system imposed by the EU and also by the Court of Auditors, which ruled that all offers are beneficial for the Greek State and has been complied with the procedure exactly as provided for public international contracts».

As the Minister of Health said, “no one underbids, nor is this a secret tender».

“When we have a public international tender, we don’t dispute the price, because if the price was high, someone would go and give a lower price to get the project. No one went to give a lower price and according to the EU rule, this is the cost of the Health Center which has not changed a screw in the last 30 years”, he added.

“The value of Polaki’s complaints about the Philiatrian Health Center has the same value as his supposedly great revelation about the Independent Authority for Assisted Reproduction, where he told us he would present a big scandal tomorrow and had confused Kostas Pantos with George Pantos. This is Polakis, he seduces you, that’s why you fight”said Mr. Georgiadis.

However, the Minister of Health acknowledged that “his behavior towards Mr. Polakis in the Parliament escaped” noting that “indeed, I recognized it myself the next day and apologized to the House, because humanly, after 10 minutes of her abusing me and 15 minutes of her interrupting me, I missed a sentence that I shouldn’t have missed».
