The measures and interventions that will be announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Thessaloniki International Fair are “locked in”.

With the Greek Government’s negotiations with the Commission to secure additional fiscal space ongoing, it is considered a matter of hours before the European Commission gives the green light to increase next year’s spending by an additional 500 million euros. At the same time, an announcement is expected for an increase in some allowances, such as the child allowance which will go from 70 euros for each child to 110 euros in an attempt to address the demographic issue.
Housing benefit will also increase for vulnerable families who receive it, while the Minimum Guaranteed Income is also expected to increase. At the same time, those with three children will be assimilated to those with many children.
Double intervention for Airbnb: The measures that Mitsotakis will announce at the TIF
The prime minister is expected to announce a double intervention for short-term leases at the TIF Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
According to his information the government is preparing to put the brakes on the Airbnb in saturated neighborhoods of Athens, taking two measures:
1)The ban on issuing new permitswithout affecting existing short-term rentals or placing calendar restrictions.
2) In parallel it will be given three-year exemption from rental income tax collected by owners who will make available for long-term rentals properties that are rented through Airbnb or remain closed. Especially for closed apartments, an increase in subsidies is foreseen through the renovate-rent program.
