A protest gathering, on the occasion of the completion of one year since the tragic death of 36-year-old Antonis Kargiotis in the Port of Piraeus, is being held in his place of origin in Agios Nikolaos Lasithiou, Crete, by his fellow citizens and members of associations and collectives who, as they state in their call “we will not let to forget the horrible images of the murder of our 36-year-old fellow citizen Antonis Karyotis, by the catapult of the ship “Blue Horizon” so that this racist brutality will not be repeated” and that “this crime will not be forgotten! It was yet another rage-filled crime. Either with their earnings or with their lives.”

The call to participate in the gathering, in the central square of Agios Nikolaos, was responded to by a large number of people who, with slogans and banners in their hands, condemned as they emphasized “the crime that cost the life of 36-year-old Antonis”, noting that they demand that there be no cover-up.

In fact, those gathered even marched to the Lake of Agios Nikolaos.

The call for the protest rally, which was responded to by unions, agencies and citizens of Agios Nikolaos, was made by the Association of Employees of Agios Nikolaos Hospital, the Group of Women of Agios Nikolaos (member of OGE), the Trade Union of Food and Tourism Workers “TALOS” and the Association of Pensioners IKA N. Lasithiou.
