Gerovasili: “Today we heard threats, division, indecency, malice from the President. We also heard insults” – Theocharopoulos: “Mitsotakis is leaving only with new leadership in SYRIZA”
“Mistakes of policy and political planning are forgiven, but walking without morals and values is unforgivable” Olga Gerovasili clarified in her speech to the Central Committee of SYRIZA, attacking Stefanos Kasselakis.
“The only redemptive solution is to go to new presidential elections,” underlined the SYRIZA executive from the leaders of the “87” group. It was preceded by the motion of censure of “87”. The vote on the motion of censure will finally take place at 8.30 in the evening.
We heard threats, division, indecency, malice today from the President. We also heard insults. These have nothing to do with the values of the Left. The new, she noted in her intervention, is not age-related. It is ideological.
Points from the speech of Olga Gerovasilis at the SYRIZA Central Committee – PS
- Mistakes in policy and political planning are forgiven, but walking without morals and values is not.
- We hear about unity, composition, responsibility, etc. but do we mean all these?
- We heard threats, division, indecency, malice today from the President. We also heard insults.
- These have nothing to do with the values of the Left.
- The new is not age. It is ideological.
- Without the same values and without respect nothing can be new.
- The President’s speech had 800 “I” and very few “we”.
- It is intemperance for the President to say that he melted soles in the country one year, when we have melted many soles for this party and a small party became a government.
- At the Conference I never retreated. The Congress decided not to hold elections. Much of what I pointed out then is unfortunately still true today. I respected the decision of the Congress and declared that we will fight the battle of the European elections together.
- In my prefecture of Arta we had the largest percentage in Greece unlike many other prefectures and we heard today that we did nothing in the elections.
- The only redemptive solution is to go to new presidential elections.
“Mitsotakis leaves only with new leadership in SYRIZA”
For his part, the other “executive” of the “87” Thanassis Theocharopoulos he also criticized the president of SYRIZA. In order for Mitsotakis to leave, the leadership in SYRIZA needs to change – PS even made it clear.
- Today’s divisive speech by Stefanos Kasselakis fully confirms the reasons for which we submitted a motion of censure.
- We have a strategic disagreement with continued liquidation of the party by its president, with the continued production of introversion instead of policy production under the responsibility of Stefanos Kasselakis. With his proposals that lead to a personal, centralized party. With the refusal of Stefanos Kasselakis for progressive alliances and for our party to assume a leading role for them, against the decisions taken by the K.E. of the party. The president is circumventing the very decisions of the party.
- The president said that some say Kasselakis should leave instead of Mitsotakis. We have been saying that Mitsotakis should leave for years now and even louder today, not just a year. In order for Mitsotakis to leave, however, the leadership in SYRIZA – PS needs to change. It is the condition why the current president liquidates the party.
- The dilemma is not what the president said. The dilemma is “either SYRIZA – PS changes its leadership, or else it sinks”.
- Stefanos Kasselakis spoke about relentless bureaucracy and then said he does not go to the base but it struggles to hide behind bureaucracies.
- He says it himself, he immediately changes what he says and even celebrates. He says on his own that he will break up the membership organizations on his own then within hours he says he will increase them and celebrates getting it back!
- It roars dozens of times at the base but refuses to go to the base and in the previous K.E. with the referendum on partnerships and now for grassroots election. He fears the base and hides.
- He threatens with deletions and prescriptions and tells us that his example in this matter is the ND and the Right with their own constitution!
- For all these reasons, and many others mentioned in the text. we have to go to the grassroots and the members of the party decide on its leadership.
“President, when there’s a fire you don’t help it burn”
Nikos Pappas sent a message to Stefanos Kasselakis on his placement in the SYRIZA Executive Committee. “President, when there’s a fire, you shouldn’t help it burn, but put it out. There are comrades here, not mandated ones. But also comrades, who make big mistakes.” clarified Mr. Pappas.
”I don’t see subversives or proxies. Let us not attribute other motives to the opposing view. There can also be no preconceived decisions for disagreements,” emphasized the new president of the SYRIZA KO.
Leaving spikes for “87” as well, he noted that “the text of the motion of censure condemns motions for removal, but executives who signed it were asking for the universal removal of Polakis”.
He also opposed the name change to SYRIZA, from “Coalition of the Radical Left”. in “Coalition of the Modern Left”.
”I don’t think elections should be held because I don’t see an alternative political plan. It is not recorded anywhere” Mr. Pappas also noted.
“I am running for president of SYRIZA – I believed in Kasselakis, but he is not doing”
Pavlos Polakis made a self-criticism for his support for Stefanos Kasselakis, according to earlier. “I believed in Kasselakis and supported him, but I fell out. He does not make for the president of SYRIZA” he explained in his speech at the SYRIZA Central Committee, directly raising the issue of leadership. “I am running for president of SYRIZA” announced in this context.
Pavlos Polakis asked for the election of president and did not submit a motion of censure, while he developed his program for the relegation of SYRIZA.
“I support the censure filed. If the motion of no confidence does not pass, I remain. I am running for leadership. If I lose I stay. We don’t need a party like Zoi Konstantopoulou’s,” he clarified.
“Lead the party to elections yourself” explained Mr. Polakis addressing the president of SYRIZA.
The SYRIZA executive asked the “87” to stay in the party.
According to information, Pavlos Polakis responded to the president of SYRIZA Stefanos Kasselakis and about homophobia and lifestyle, telling journalists that “I didn’t put Dora on stage like you did Tyler.”
