Hulusi Akar said: “Knowledge is not given in schools, there we should teach children only the fear of God”
Turkish media reports that there is strong unease within the military over the existence of religious sects and sects in ministries, the judiciary and the police, and graduates of military schools raised their swords and shouted “we are Kemal’s soldiers” to show their reaction. , broadcast from Istanbul o Manolis Kostidis.
Fatih Orangepresenter of the SOZCU TV newscast: “The truth is that within the Turkish Armed Forces there is the annoyance of second lieutenants. Because in this country there are religious sects, sects. They have entered the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, everywhere you see the religious sects in the police, in the judiciary. These lieutenants reacted to the existence of sects within the army, there are sects. That is why they raised their swords and said “we are the soldiers of Kemal Atatürk” and showed that they support the secular state of Turkey and reacted in this way. If they had done it individually they would have been deleted. But their reaction shows that they do not approve of the course taken by the Turkish Armed Forces.”
SOZCU TV report: “Erdogan targeted the lieutenants, but it is not the first time that they themselves had raised their swords again. In the swearing-in ceremony, there is a tradition in the Military Academy to raise swords, and in the 2013 swearing-in ceremony where Erdogan participated as prime minister, similar scenes unfolded.”
Erdogan: “We will not allow political games to be played through our army. Within the framework of democratic control mechanisms, we are taking the necessary steps and we will do them.”
Hulusi Akar: “Knowledge is not given in schools, there we must teach children only the fear of God”
The Turkish opposition has risen up and is talking about political Islam trying to impose itself on Turkey.
Former Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said: “The purpose of education is not knowledge, as knowledge is given in the university. The purpose of education is the fear of God, and the shame of the servant of the people.”
Ozgur Ozel, president of the Republican People’s Party: “You know the scratcher.. So we scratched Akar like a scratcher and political Islam emerged from underneath.”
Akar: “If we train the children of 4 to 12 years old, with the fear of God, to fear God, to have the shame of the servant, then do not fear for this child.”
Ozel: “If the coup attempt had succeeded he would have taken over the leadership, when the attempt failed he took office again. This is Turkey’s misfortune.
Akar: “If we don’t do this, then we will either deal with atheists, with theists, with LGBT people, with drugs. This cannot be done with the police but with education.”
The close defense cooperation between the US and Cyprus provokes Ankara’s strong reaction.
In a statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs states:
“We condemn the signing of a road map between the US and the Greek Cypriot administration of Southern Cyprus (Republic of Cyprus) for the development of cooperation in the field of defense.
These measures taken by the US authorities against the security of the Turkish Cypriot side, including the announcement of a strategic dialogue with the Greek Cypriot administration last June, damage the neutral position of the US towards the island of Cyprus and make it difficult to find a just, permanent and sustainable solution of the Cyprus issue.
In this context, we believe that policies that may harm regional stability should be reviewed.
Turkey, as the Motherland and as a guarantor power, will continue to ensure the security and well-being of the Turkish Cypriots under any circumstances.”
Strong reaction from Omer Celik
The representative of the Justice and Development party, Omer Celik, spoke of “irresponsible assessment, a problematic situation for alliance relations”, who added: “We see who and what they want to do in the Mediterranean”.
Celik stated: “Dear friends, another question we were asked was about the issue of military cooperation between the US Department of Defense and the ‘Greek Cypriot Command of the South’ Cyprus.
I had previously made a statement on this issue in 2020 when the United States of America lifted the arms embargo against ‘South’ Cyprus.
The source of instability and the impossibility of a solution on the island is the ‘Greek Cypriot’ administration.
Over here, they are the ones who ignore the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ and the ‘Turkish Cypriots’ with their maximalist demands and therefore, they are the ones who ignore the rights of the ‘Turkish Cypriots’ and the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ in an approach based on 2 constituents based on 2 communities on the basis of equality in the island.
All their demands are illegal and unsolvable.
We said it and when the arms embargo was lifted, we said that this would contribute to nothing other than encouraging the ‘Greek Cypriot’ administration in the matter of creating lawlessness and impossibility of a solution.
We have said that it serves neither peace nor resolution.
Now, entering into a military cooperation agreement in this way is an approach that will deepen the problems here and further embolden the spoiled ‘Greek Cypriot’ side and is an extremely irresponsible assessment.
It is clear that this is an extremely problematic situation in terms of alliance relations with Turkey.
Within this whole picture, we clearly see who wants to do what they want to do in the Mediterranean, and the Mediterranean is filled with too many warships, to such an extent that there is no room for the boats to go out.
This was an approach that sabotages dialogue and emboldens those who do not want a solution and those who demand lawlessness, when a firmer step should be taken based on a more diplomatic dialogue.
As such, it has been recorded as an extremely flawed approach and one that should be rejected.
Whatever happens, the Turkish Republic will continue its historical solidarity with the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ in the strongest possible way and, as our president often states, the ‘Turkish Cypriot’ people and the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ will never be alone. The future of the ‘Turkish Cypriot’ people and the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ and its safeguarding will continue to be for us a matter of defense of the Turkish Cypriot people.”
