The decision was taken despite informing Mr. Katsivardas that he has withdrawn his lawsuit

The removal of the parliamentary immunity of the president of the Spartans Vasilis Stiga unanimously recommends the ethics committee of the Parliament after a lawsuit filed against him by the now independent MP Haris Katsivardas.
The case concerned a lawsuit for defamation against Vassilis Stigas after what he had testified to the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Georgia Adeilinis, regarding practices Greek Mafia to the Spartans, as part of the electoral fraud investigation into guided members of his caucus.
The unanimous recommendation was received despite the fact that Mr. Katsivardas has withdrawn the lawsuit, as it is reported by the environment of the independent MP that “Mr. Stigas has apologized and has remedied the untruths he told Ms. Adelini”. However, the same sources rule out the possibility of X. Katsivardas returning to the Spartan parliamentary group.
The final decisions will be made in the Plenary, probably next week, which will decide by roll call.
