The SYRIZA MP stated that he disagrees with the timing of the elections and tabled his own proposal to speed up the procedures
His own proposal for speeding up the procedures was submitted to the Central Committee of SYRIZA by Pavlos Polakisexpressing his disagreement with the timetable set by the majority for internal party elections.
The speech of his deputy in more detail SYRIZA:
“Comrades, I think we all saw what happened yesterday. An aunt from Nigeria was the reason for Papantoniou’s acquittal. After the ambiguities of Georgiadis, after the mother-in-law of Avramopoulos, after the acquittal of the KEELPNO gang despite the overwhelmingly condemning prosecution proposal, Papantoniou is also acquitted.
The mood that passes through the people is that they do what they want, they set it up the way they want and that Mitsotakis will rule for many more years with the contribution of all these mechanisms of the deep state.
In the face of all this, we, beloved comrades, talk to each other about coups. Stefanos’ second speech after the motion of censure was passed, I took it as a sad reaction to an outcome he did not expect. No one questioned the ability of the EC to vote on a motion of censure, no one questioned the ability to make a decision on how to vote. Stefanos himself seemed to accept the result, gathering things from his office the next day.
Suddenly, four days later this river of poison began to pour out. Why don’t we go straight to the grassroots to vote and decide again? From most of you I can accept whatever you say. But I cannot accept Antonaros or Spiliotopoulos talking about coup plotters.
You all know that I initially supported Stefanos, I tried to help, I forgave many insults towards me, I never came out to say things in public. But, that’s not how we move forward and above all we don’t win because of leadership and line.
Because I do not want this situation to be prolonged, I do not agree with the proposal of the majority and submit a proposal to expedite the proceedings.
Specifically, I recommend the following schedule:
1. 29/09/2024 Submission of nominations (the only condition is 30 signatures
2. 05/10/2024 Permanent conference (with the same delegates as in February) to announce nominations!
3. 03/11/2024 First vote for President
4. 10/11/2024 Second vote for President
I call on everyone, starting with the presidential candidates, to declare the following two things from today:
First, that they will respect the result, whatever it is, and stay with SYRIZA.
Secondly, that in a short period of time after the election of the president we will proceed to a programmatic conference and a statutory conference of the party. Personally, I will not take my possible election as a blank mandate to bring about constitutional changes. A lot of work has already been done, which we are not throwing away. In my opinion the most serious change that needs to be made is the regional restructuring of the party.
Finally, some small but critical changes should be made to the pronunciation of our program. It is one thing to say that I am reducing the excise tax and another to say that I am returning the profit per barrel to 9 dollars from the 25, it is another thing to say that I am adjusting the target model and another thing to say that there is a limit on the price of wholesale electricity from PPC which we bring it back to public control, it is one thing to say that there will be a barrier to obscene profit and another that there will be an increase in the price of consumer goods. One is conflict with intertwining in a specific way that negates super profits and redistributes in favor of the poor and the other is “other words to love”.
