Ersin Tatar also stated that an atmosphere of consultative contacts could be reached on how the future of Cyprus will be shaped, in a meeting to be held in the “4+1” format, with the participation of Turkey, Turkish Cypriots, Greece and of Greek Cypriots, under the auspices of the United Nations.

He also reiterated that he is not going to sit at the official negotiating table until the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot side is confirmed and emphasized that he conveyed to the UN Secretary General that the issue of federation is a thing of the past, it has been exhausted and will not be acceptable, however it will not stop communication with the other side.
