Most MPs, after the multiple “bells” ringing the polls, emphasized that personal feuds should be put aside

After some time at yesterday’s meeting of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, an attempt was made to lower the tone.
With the latest “episode”, the rival camps have “rebuffed” the warnings from “87” executives that any attempt to challenge the decision of the Central Committee to depose Stefanos Kasselakis will mean a split.
It is taken for granted that supporters of the former SYRIZA president will raise such an issue at the party’s highest governing body that will be convened from November 1-3.
Most of the MPs, after the multiple “bells” ringing the polls, emphasized that personal feuds should be put aside in order not to cause other problems. Nikos Pappas addressed the MPs pointing out that “social media should not be allowed to replace our parliamentary work or, much more, to overshadow it in the public discourse”.
Socrates Famellus said: “Let’s not say things that hurt other comrades.”
“Let’s all go united and coordinated to the presidential election” asked Evangelos Apostolakis. “At some point there must be rules for all of us and none of us escapes from the political discourse that we must speak in public,” Christos Giannoulis is reported to have emphasized, while Theodora Tzakri also moved in unifying tones.
SYRIZA needed a small truce before the big “battle” of the conference, as it is certain that the “knives” have not been sheathed. The “87” argue that the announcements made by many prefectural women in favor of Stefanos Kasselakis are dynamiting the climate.
Their meeting with Sokratis Famellos is expected to take place soon.
In this period, the climate that has been created for Koumoundourou cannot be reversed. In the Opinion Poll survey on behalf of ACTION 24, the intention to vote was recorded at 7.7%.
It is in fifth place behind New Democracy (27.1%), PASOK (14%), KKE (8.8%) and Hellenic Solution (8.7%). Palmos Analysis’ picture for tvxs is similar, with Koumoundourou in third place with single-digit percentages. New Democracy 23.8%, SYRIZA 8.7%, PASOK 14.8%.
The fourth candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA, as announced yesterday, will be Nikolas Farandouris.
The MEP has reportedly already collected the 30 signatures he needs from the members of the Central Committee, while he seems to have a momentum from the 141,000 votes he got in the recent European elections. As he stated, he aims to “complete the transformation of the party into a large democratic progressive faction from the Left to the progressive center”.
