The battle for second place in the internal party elections of PASOK turned into an absolute thriller.

Nikos Androulakis locked in first place from the start, while the battle for second place turned into a tough derby between Haris Doukas and Pavlos Geroulanos.

Finally, with a difference of 813 votes, Mr. Doukas managed to win the second place.

Thus, next Sunday, Nikos Androulakis and Haris Doukas will compete for the presidency of PASOK.

It is noted that more than 301,355 voters came to the polls, while 177,000 new members are counted among them.

At 99.68% integration (925 electoral divisions against a total of 928 divisions) the results are as follows:

  • Androulakis 29.7% (89,018 votes)
  • Duke 21.41% (64,184 votes)
  • Geroulanos 21.14% (63,371 votes)
  • Diamantopoulou 19.55% (58,600)
  • Katrina 5.9% (17,671)
  • Giannakopoulou 2.3% (6,883 votes)

N. Androulakis: “PASOK will emerge even more united, even stronger, even more proud”

“Today is a great day for the democratic faction” said the president of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, coming to the offices of Harilaou Trikoupi and thanked the “hundreds of thousands of citizens who honored the internal party elections with their participation”.

“They filled us with hope and strength,” he said, while also thanking his co-candidates, stressing that “we had an election campaign with real political culture, with morals and seriousness.”

“I want to thank from the bottom of my heart those who honored me with today’s victory. There are seven days left until next Sunday, when I am sure that PASOK will come out even more united, even stronger, even more proud”, concluded Mr. Androulakis.

P. Geroulanos: The battle is still open

The members and friends of PASOK spoke today and their decision is absolutely respected, emphasized Pavlos Geroulanos. I want to congratulate Mr. Androulakis and Mr. Doukas for making it to the second round, he said.

“The citizens don’t expect me to say who will win in the next round. Anyone who believes in democracy also believes in the result. I hope PASOK will win the next elections,” he said at another point.

“I don’t think the citizens who will come to vote tomorrow need to head to the ballot box in any direction. I think that everyone who came to vote for my candidacy came with their own opinion” he emphasized and continued “I don’t think they expect me to say who will win in the next round. The battle is still open. And of course the result of the second round will be respected.”

A. Diamantopoulou: “In the next day we will be united and work together for the great PASOK”

Anna Diamantopoulou expressed her belief that “in the next day we will be united and work together for the great PASOK”, commenting on the election result for the leadership of PASOK-Movement of Change where she took fourth place with 19.55% and 58,600 votes.

Mrs. Diamantopoulou added that “today is an important starting point for PASOK”.

She thanked the citizens who participated, the friends and volunteers who believed in her candidacy and all the people in Greece who organized themselves to support her.

Ch. Doukas: The message of the ballot box is clear

It is a big day for PASOK and the democratic faction, said Haris Doukas.

As he said, “the message of the ballot box is clear, 70% call for a change of leadership. I call on you to make the great leap, to change PASOK and change the country.”
