The atmosphere was electrifying at the first meeting of the Conference of Presidents for the second parliamentary session, as the addition of Michalis Khourdakis as a representative of the independents, provoked her reaction Zois Konstantopoulou.
According to information, its President Freedom of Navigation he questioned in a strong tone in what capacity the independent MP is in the room and who he represents, claiming that he has not been informed of the above addition to the members of the body. In fact, Mrs. Konstantopoulou denounced an attempt “to bring the independent Spartans to the Conference through the window”, underlining the crucial role of the Conference to make decisions for the heads of Independent Authorities.
It is recalled that a few days ago, a total of 8 independent MPs (Dimitrokallis, Floros, Manousos, Valtogiannis, Linou, Salmas, Hourdakis, Papaioannou) sent letters appointing Mr. Hourdakis as their representative at the Conference. However, sources from the bureau pointed out that the request submitted by the independent MPs is based on the provisions of the Parliament’s operating regulation and that its eventual rejection would be unconstitutional.
Speaking to parliamentary editors, Michalis Khourdakis argued that his appointment in this position was made to serve the group of independents in purely procedural matters. “I am a team player, I will try to consult all independents in votes for the members of the independent authorities” , he commented himself.
