Apostolos Gletsos insists on his views on “importing prostitutes” from the countries of origin of immigrants in order to satisfy their needs

“What is more correct, what is more humane, what is more left-wing for the embassy to have taken care of bringing the prostitutes from the country?” he stated characteristically on Sunday speaking to MEGA.

“It is a harsh reality that unfortunately applies. There are tens of hundreds of people who are immigrants, whom we bring to Greece and who work and do well, people who – for reasons that we will not examine now – are not accepted in the asylums” said Apostolos Gletsos about his proposal.

When they even explained to him that he might be talking about human trafficking, he clarified that everything will be done legally. “We are talking about all the papers and the legal ones. Why should we let these thousands of people work alone and not be able to approach shelters?”

Apostolos Gletsos was also asked how he would react in the event that the Central Committee of SYRIZA examines these statements and deems them to be grounds for exclusion from the party’s presidential election process.

“What can I do? If they call me on that statement and I apologize that I think it’s right for people who are being taken advantage of by their employers and some are barred from having relationships and we need to take care of them, and then they decide I should be removed, I’ll take it. I insist that my point of view is correct,” he concluded.

In favor of the exclusion of Kasselakis

Regarding the developments in SYRIZA and what happened yesterday during the meeting of the Political Secretariat, Mr. Gletsos supported the decision to leave Stefanos Kasselakis out of the presidential race.

“Yesterday there was nothing different that the Central Committee could have done judging by the general behavior of Stefanos Kasselakis during the 11 months he was president of another party, because he was not in SYRIZA. His non-political path during these 11 months has left the Central Committee and the organs with no other choice. They did the right thing, in my opinion,” he said, defending the members of the Central Committee.

“(Kasselakis) was not what we wanted, what we expected. In these 11 months, we have been waiting for more and more has come to us. From the beginning we believed him, we wanted him, we expected to see sun and we saw night. He talked about black funds in the party that made him president. Chaos separates me from Kasselakis. If there is a president, I will leave. If I become president, the next hour I delete Kasselakis, because he is dangerous for the party and the Left,” he added.
